Ten contenders for Best Picture will be allowed, and heavy weather acting fare like Viggo Mortenson in “the Road” and Meryl Streep rom-com seem to be the only other quakes on the Hollywood buzz-meter.
Sure, Michael Bay’s Transformers 2 raided the piggy banks, but Bay has irked more than a few oldtime Oscar voters from his always-there hubris and past deeds If this is the year when gleeful embrace of teen culture or sci-fi fantasy happens at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, let it be New Moon.
The twilight may have come for serious-only Academy film trophies. The fangs are out for everyone’s favorite vampire flick saga, and yet statuette love for the Twilight film series has yet to show its teeth.
